Sarah K Chen Photography Blog bio picture

Welcome to my Blog!

I'm a simple person who loves photographing people and spending time with my husband and two little girls, Ellie (4) and Emmeline (1). My girls are my world and every day I wonder how I became so blessed to be their Mama.

When I'm not behind the camera I love to knit and sew cute things for my girls and bake cookies. My husband likes to say I'm a granny at heart, but I like to say I'm a woman of many talents. ;)

I also enjoy snowboarding, traveling and immersing myself in books. One day I will conquer Cornice and get down without snowplowing my way. I dream of traveling to Greece, Italy and Paris one day, but I have yet to convince the husband that traveling abroad with two little ones would be aweome. I'd also love to go camping and show my girls the joys of a perfectly toasted marshmallow and walking barefoot through an icy cold creek bed. And although I said it would never happen, I now read most of my books on my iPhone or iPad instead of a book. Have kids and you'll soon realize the gift of a built in light and always having your book with you.

I'm based in Orange County, California and ocassionally travel for shoots.

Orange County Engagement : Helen & Chris

Helen and Chris booked me from Northern California where they will be getting married so we didn’t get a chance to meet until they flew down to the OC for their engagement session. They’re a super cute, laid back couple who aren’t afraid to laugh and be themselves in front of my camera. And I […]

Beverly Hills Family Portraits : Baby Audrey

I met up with Daniel and his family at a park nearby their house in Beverly Hills to take portraits of their baby girl Audrey. It was a gorgeous day and little Audrey was such a trooper! She kept us laughing with her adorable expressions and antics. Apparently, she’s not a fan of tutu’s but […]

Blush Boudoir : Los Angeles : Mrs. Envy

Every now and again you come across that girl. The one with the amazing eyes and the smile that lights up a room. Every time I had her look at me and smile, I felt a twinge of envy and thought to myself that her husband was a very lucky man. There’s a playful light […]

Los Angeles Engagement : Jessica & Eddie at Occidental College

There were so many similarities. The day we met up for our initial consult we were both heading out to a wedding immediately afterward, but for two different couples. I was almost convinced that we’d be attending the same wedding though. They’re a Korean/Taiwanese couple like me and Jeff. Eddie’s moves on Jessica were about […]

Los Angeles Family Portraits : The Ly – Pang Family

I love shooting family sessions that are a little different. Linda of Grand Soirees told me a while back that she’s always wanted to do a cozy bedroom family session with her family. When I booked my swanky hotel room for my last boudoir session I knew it’d be perfect for Linda’s family session idea! […]

Mini Orange Trees & Ellie : Film

I’d noticed what seemed to be mini orange trees and vowed to take Ellie there to scope it out and take some pictures. The light was perfectly golden when we left our house, but by the time we got to the mini orange trees the sky was completely overcast. So we missed the golden light, […]
