I’m heading out of state tomorrow for a wedding in Michigan so I’ll be back to catch up on emails on Monday. This is the first time I’ll be away from Ellie and I’ve been more than a little anxious about leaving her. But she alleviated most of my worry when I finally got her to take a bottle earlier this week! I was so worried about her not eating or possibly getting dehydrated since she would flat out refuse the bottle. Honestly, my chubby little girl (our nanny calls her “gordita”) has been known to hold out for 10-15 hours without milk! I’ve spent a small fortune on all different types of bottles and nipples and …nada. Seriously, she hasn’t taken a bottle in 6 months! I know she’d get some solids in her while I’m away, but a serving of carrots or peas or rice cereal only has about 25-40 calories which is so not enough! So yeah, her taking bottles again? Miraculous!
Jeff has been kicking it into gear this week as well in regards to night time Daddy duty. He’s started a bed time routine with her and has been putting her to sleep for the night all by himself. Prior to having this routine, if Jeff tried to put her to bed (instead of me) this would result in a complete meltdown on Ellie’s part and utter frustration on his part. He claimed not to have “magic boobs” like me to get Ellie to sleep at night. I have magical boobs? Really? The first night Jeff was able to get Ellie down for the night, he ran downstairs and asked with a big smile on his face, “Who’s the man?!” He and I were both proud! He’s been doing great with her this week and I know Grandma and Grandpa Chen will be around to give Ellie some extra love in my absence.
I’m going to miss waking up to this face in the mornings. But do you know what I am looking forward to? Eight glorious hours of continuous sleep!
I love you Jeff and Ellie. I’ll miss you both so much!
Ellie, be nice to Daddy, ok?
