Sarah K Chen Photography Blog bio picture

Welcome to my Blog!

I'm a simple person who loves photographing people and spending time with my husband and two little girls, Ellie (4) and Emmeline (1). My girls are my world and every day I wonder how I became so blessed to be their Mama.

When I'm not behind the camera I love to knit and sew cute things for my girls and bake cookies. My husband likes to say I'm a granny at heart, but I like to say I'm a woman of many talents. ;)

I also enjoy snowboarding, traveling and immersing myself in books. One day I will conquer Cornice and get down without snowplowing my way. I dream of traveling to Greece, Italy and Paris one day, but I have yet to convince the husband that traveling abroad with two little ones would be aweome. I'd also love to go camping and show my girls the joys of a perfectly toasted marshmallow and walking barefoot through an icy cold creek bed. And although I said it would never happen, I now read most of my books on my iPhone or iPad instead of a book. Have kids and you'll soon realize the gift of a built in light and always having your book with you.

I'm based in Orange County, California and ocassionally travel for shoots.

Tanaka Farms

I wasn’t even sure this roll of film would turn out. I shot a roll of 120 on my Rolleiflex T while watermelon picking at Tanaka Farms and didn’t realize that I hadn’t fully latched the bottom of the camera until I had finished off the roll. I thought I’d have major light leaks, but was surprised to find my film came out perfectly fine.

Little Evan is the spitting image of his Father, Andy. He has his Mommy’s pinchable cheeks though!

This is Abbie and her Mom Tracy on the left and Alison on the right. I love how Mommy and her daughter are dressed alike in dresses and floppy hats.

Ellie loved riding the wagon out into the fields! It was a scorching hot day and the slight breeze from the wagon ride was so nice!

We got to sample lots of sweet, raw organic veggies on the wagon. I loved the green beans and the corn the best. Ellie wasn’t particularly impressed with the veggies, but she did have a taste of everything which I was proud of. After this bite she said, “nooooo.” And handed the green beans back to me. :)

Why does my baby look so shell shocked all the time? Or maybe she’s tired of Mommy always pointing a camera in her face? 😛

The baseboards are being installed as I type this. The upstairs hallway has been finished. They’re installing the transition pieces as well today. I hope to have my office set up again tonight and be back to our regularly scheduled program this week!
